KTF to choose outside directors

KTF, Korea’s second-largest mobile phone company, said yesterday it would select its new outside directors from a group of candidates recommended by a committee. The recommendation panel will consist of three outside and two inside board members, KTF said. The mobile carrier said it would also set up what it called a “corporate governance support team,” which would provide management information for the firm’s independent directors. The company also plans to create another committee, which will be in charge of evaluating the firm’s earnings performance. “We have made the decision, as it has become even more important to bolster the independence and expertise of our board following SK Global’s accounting scandal,” said Nam Joong-soo, KTF’s president and chief executive.
