[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Public phones that work are a rarity
My brother and I recently made a visit to the Regional Military Manpower Administration to notify the administration of our recent arrival from Japan. Apparently we needed to make a few important phone calls. Due to our recent arrival, neither of us had a cellular phone to use at the time. Obviously we had to find a public telephone booth.Fortunately, finding one was easy. There were three phones in the administration’s lobby. But all the phones were out of order.
We walked out of the facility to the street to find a phone to use, which eventually happened. But what if things come up urgently? Indeed, so many of us own a personal telecommunication device. But that is no excuse for a public administration to dismiss the responsibility of maintaining basic public utilities in their compounds.
More disappointment followed when we tried to fill out a complaint form. There did not exist a space for facility maintenance. Public administrations still have a long way to go.
