Ministry to block adult Web sites

The Ministry of Information and Communication said yesterday it would block about 240 adult Web sites that are based in overseas countries but provide information in the Korean language. The ministry claimed the adult Web sites had been pointed out as being the main culprits of indiscriminately sending unwanted spam mail that often contained obscene material to local Internet users. “We will cooperate with 14 Internet service providers in Korea, including KT, Hanaro and Thrunet, to block the spam senders’ Internet Protocol addresses,” said Seo Jeong-ran, an official from the ministry.
