Mini car toll fees to be slashed

The toll for mini cars on turnpike roads nationwide is expected to be cut by 50 percent, starting in July. Mini car drivers will also be exempted from registration taxes, and they won’t need to buy Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corp. public parking lot bonds, which currently offer a 50 percent discount to mini car drivers. According to the present law, mini cars are classified as vehicles with an engine displacement of 800 cubic centimeters (48 cubic inches) or smaller. But discussions in the National Assembly about the reclassification of mini cars into vehicles with 1-liter engines or smaller are under way.
