South Korean expert dies in North Korea

Yun Ki-bok, a North Korean official deeply involved in South Korean issues, died on Thursday, North Korea’s state-run Central News Agency reported yesterday. He was 76.
Mr. Yun was the vice chairman of the Committee for Peaceful Unification of the Fatherland, a member of the Supreme People’s Assembly and a senior member of the Workers’ Party. He died of natural causes, the report said.
“A native of Seoul, comrade Yun devoted all his wisdom and energy to serve the party, build a socialist economy and achieve reunification,” the report said.
In 1972, Mr. Yun was an adviser at the inter-Korean Red Cross talks. As the chairman of the central committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland, he played a key role in devising North Korea’s policies on relations with the South.
