&#91LETTERS TO THE EDITOR&#93Taxi drivers should be fair

A couple of days ago, I tried to catch a taxi at about 1 a.m. near a subway station in Incheon. A lot of taxis lined up there waiting for customers and I took the first taxi in the line. The distance from the station to my home was not far and I thought I could go home paying the metered fare, which is 1,800 won. The taxi driver drove without the meter on and asked me to pay 2,300 won after he reached my home in less than five minutes. I was upset about the driver’s behavior.
I understand that the taxi driver traveled a short distance after waiting in the line for a long time. But I think it is unfair for drivers to ask for premiums.
Taxi companies, these days, are trying to raise fees. But they don’t really appear to care about improving customer service. I would like to take taxis that are more reliable.
