&#91LETTERS TO THE EDITOR&#93‘HIV/AIDS’ is not used in right way

I would like to comment on some incorrect information that appeared in your “Bad Blood” article Monday. This article asserts that two people in Jeolla were infected with AIDS by tainted blood. In fact, the number of people (not just in Jeolla province but in the world) directly infected with AIDS from tainted blood is not even as high as two. It is zero.
The people in Jeolla province were infected not with AIDS but with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. You may feel this argument is only a question of semantics, but medical authorities and those who speak knowledgably about HIV/AIDS issues believe HIV and AIDS are different medical conditions.
Failing to use these terms correctly undermines the authority of your newspaper. It also contributes to the demonization of those living and coping with HIV infection.
I hope your paper takes care to use the terms HIV and AIDS correctly in the future.
