Samsung chips lead price hikes

The price of DDR400/256 memory chips produced by Samsung Electronics Co. have reached $5 each, their highest price since February, according to Digitimes, a daily electronics newspaper in Taiwan. The price of DDR400/256 memory chips by other electronic companies, such as Infineon Technologies AG, varied from $4.70 to $4.90. The price of DDR333/256 memory chips produced by Samsung also rose to $3.95 each. The price of DDR266/256 memory chips produced by Samsung were selling for $3.56 yesterday. For the uninitiated, the acronyms refer to double-data-rate chips operating at speeds ranging from 400 down to 266 megahertz, each with a 256-megabit memory.
