&#91LETTERS TO THE EDITOR&#93Fare hikes, poor service

Taxi drivers are still often unfriendly. First, some ignore the no-smoking rules and light up their cigarettes. Because they cannot use the ashtray in the car, they flick their ashes out the window, which sometime blow back in the rear seat.
Cell phones are another problem. Some drivers talk for long periods without using the “hands-free” device, driving dangerously with one hand. Then there are receipts; drivers growl at giving them, and the ones that do usually put the wrong date or amount on the receipt.
Whenever taxi fares are raised, we are promised better service in return, but when I ride taxis, I see no improvements in the service at all.
