Samsung sues over trade secrets
Samsung Electronics Co. said yesterday it had filed Korea’s first civil lawsuit for violation of trade secrets against Bellwave Co. over its mobile phone models. “Bellwave obtained a core technology of Samsung’s mobile phones from workers who had left Samsung Electronics in 2000. The technology was exposed, leading to damages equivalent to 139.8 billion won ($117.7 million),” said a Samsung official. “The company has filed an action for 13.3 billion won, 10 percent of the amount of damages.” Samsung also asked the Seoul District Court to prohibit Bellwave from using the technology.
