&#91LETTERS TO THE EDITOR&#93Consider students’ rights

I am a student at Bucheon Women’s High School. Recently, the National Education Information System has become a hot issue, with debates in the education community. But concern for the students who will fall under the new system is still lacking.
The National Human Rights Commission of Korea reported to the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development that the system does not secure students’ personal data. The Minister of Education, in response, said the system would be re-examined. It seems now, however, that it will be operational soon. Taking into view the immense amount of money and effort spent on the system, some officials in government are pushing the project.
From a high school student’s perspective, I am confused. As in other political decisions, the people who will be affected by the system must be considered.
