DEOKSUGUNG NATIONAL MUSEUM OF ART

To Sunday: A special exhibition titled “A Walk Through Modern Art” features art work of the modern period from the 1960s to the 1990s. Two collections, one using black-and-white ink, the other employing color, denote the artistic spirit of this period.

NATIONAL FOLK MUSEUM OF KOREA

One exhibition depicts the life cycle of a Korean living the traditional lifestyle. Phases of life from birth to youth to old age are explained, as well as the person’s changing social position. Formal initiations to these stages through rites of coming-of age, marriage, funeral and memorial services are also shown.

SEORAK INTERNATIONAL TRIATHLON 2003

Saturday and Sunday: Sokcho abounds in stunning scenery including mountains, lakes and the East Sea. These will all be on display during this triathlon, which consists of swimming, cycling and running events. Saturday’s races are for juniors, ages 16 to 19. On Sunday, adults and professionals will take part.

GOYANG ASIAN ROCK FESTIVAL

Saturday: Rock bands from across Northeast Asia will gather in Goyang to greet summer with some head-banging fun. Arirang, a Korean-Chinese boy-band quartet, Filipino musician Joey Ayala, as well as Japanese rock bands will take part. From Korea, the Gang San Ae band and Yun Do Hyun band will perform.
