Security alert on Cisco systems
The Ministry of Information and Communication issued a security warning for Internet networks yesterday. The warning followed a July 16 announcement by Cisco Systems Inc., an American Internet network device maker, that security flaws were discovered by hackers. About 80 percent of domestic Internet network equipment is from Cisco. The ministry asked domestic Internet service providers and their control centers to examine their facilities and download security patches to prevent nationwide Internet interruptions. However, there is still a high risk of attacks since companies have failed to adopt the security measures. Programs to prevent attacks are available at www.cisco.com/tacpage/sw-center/sw-ios/shtml.
