Samsung to make memory sticks

Samsung Electronics Co. and Sony Corp. of Japan announced yesterday they had reached an agreement whereby Sony would license Samsung to manufacture and sell its memory stick storage media under the Korean brand. Samsung will start producing and selling the storage media next month. Sony has worked with Samsung to increase memory stick compatibility for a range of Samsung products, including DVD players, mobile phones, personal computers and televisions, since August 2001. Through the strengthening of their cooperative relationship, Samsung and Sony aim to expand the memory stick business and secure the device’s position within the memory card market.
