Trips to North Korea are resuming today

Overland tourism to Mount Geumgang resumes today, and 328 travelers will leave for the mountain by bus while another 106 will use a ferry, according to Hyundai Asan, the company behind the tours.
Hyundai Asan said a tour package to Pyeongyang is to be available this year. The trip starts from Mount Geumgang, goes to Wonsan and finishes at the North’s capital.
“North Korean officials agreed with the plan,” an official at Hyundai Asan said. “But we have not decided on the detailed schedules and routes of the tour.”
The official predicted that tourism to North Korea will generate profits after 2005. Hyundai Asan said that it hoped that the Ministry of Unification would offer to subsidize the visits to Mount Geumgang as soon as the National Assembly moves to approve financial support for the operation.
