Koreas resume talks between militaries

In the first bilateral military talks in a year, representatives from the two Koreas agreed yesterday to set up guard posts inside the Demilitarized Zone where their soldiers are working to reconnect roads and rail lines severed for a half century.
The two Koreas agreed to build two guard posts each at two construction sites located in the east and west of the DMZ. “The guard posts will be set up before the end of this year, and they will be about 500 meters Ύ.3 miles] away from each other,” a defense ministry official in Seoul said yesterday.
At the talks, held at the truce village of Panmunjeom, the two sides agreed to use newly opened sections of two inter-Korean highways in place of the temporary roads now used.
They also agreed to install a fax line for mutual use within a month.
