Families heading North for reunion

A group of 564 South Koreans will head the North Korean resort of Mount Geumgang today for the eighth round of reunions for separated families.
The group consists of 453 people who were divided from their relatives in the North after the Korean War, 30 reporters and 81 aiding officials. They are scheduled to stay at the resort for three days to meet 100 North Korean relatives.
They will arrive at Mount Geumgang by road using a highway on the east of the peninsula. On board 20 buses run by Hyundai Asan, they will arrive at a resort hotel at 12:30 p.m. It is the first time family members have traveled to North Korea by bus. Earlier, ships and airplanes were used.
An official at the South Korean Red Cross said, “People were upbeat in the past events, but this time people are calm and are bringing less luggage.”
