5 jet airliners on auction site

Five airliners were put up for sale last Friday on Auction, an online auction company. The planes were all DC-9s made by Boeing Company. They were part of the fleet of Philippines Airline and had been in service since 1972. They were taken out of service in July and mothballed in Manila. The airplanes are currently inoperable because the avionics have been disconnected for safety reasons. The initial bidding price was 50 million won ($43,440) per plane, including a 15 million-won transportation fee. Bidding on the airplanes ends next Monday. A jet valued at 5.9 billion won was recently traded on eBay, a U.S. online auction firm.
