Ministry units’ computers at risk
Affiliated organizations under the Ministry of Information and Communication are not ready to protect their computer systems from either hacking or viruses. “The ministry simulated hacking in the computer systems of the 13 affiliated organizations at the end of August and the systems in five organizations were hacked,” Representative Kim Hyong-o of the Grand National Party said yesterday during the National Assembly’s inspection of the Korea Information Security Agency. The organizations were the Korea Network Information Center, Korea IT Industry Promotion Agency, Telecommunications Technology Association, Institute of Information Technology Assessment, and Korea Radio Station Management Agency. The ministry simulated spreading viruses to the organizations. They were not detected by one organization.
