Video telephone service on tap by 2 Internet firms
High-speed Internet service carriers are poised to launch video telephone services. Hanaro Telecom said yesterday that it would start a pilot video telephony service based on high speed Internet connections in the Seoul metropolitan area in June. The company said it planned to commercialize the video call service in the second half of the year. KT, the dominant player in the fixed-line telephony market and the largest broadband carrier in Korea, said it would start Internet-based video telephone services for corporate customers perhaps next month.
