LG Telecom urges talks with music firms
LG Telecom said yesterday that it is asking music associations including the Korea Association of Phonogram Producers to restart negotiations on MP3 phones. The telecommunications company and the music industry have fought over how long a free music file can be played on cell phones. “We do not agree on the 72-hour limit of playing time, but we can discuss several ways for the development of music industry,” an LG Telecom official said. On May 28, music companies declared that they would not negotiate with LG, saying that they would file a lawsuit to suspend the sales of MP3 phones and would also boycott LG products.
