Cingular selects LG’s 3G cell phones
LG Electronics said yesterday that Cingular Wireless, the largest mobile phone service provider in the United States, selected LG as one of the three preferred suppliers of third-generation, or 3G, cellular phones. The other two handset makers were Nokia and Motorola. The company said that this puts LG in an advantageous position in the U.S. phone market for third-generation phones. Since its deal with Hutchison Whampoa last May, LG Electronics has provided over 3.6 million 3G cellular phones in Europe.
