Bid for Indonesian firm failed, SK Telecom says
SK Telecom Co., South Korea’s largest mobile-phone operator, said its bid to buy a stake in PT Excelcomindo Pratama, Indonesia’s third-largest cell-phone service company, failed. SK, which on Nov. 22 bid for the Indonesian firm, received notification that its offer was rejected, said SK spokesman Chai Young-hoon. He said he had no further details. The rejection is a blow to SK, which wants to expand overseas to counter slower growth in its home market, where seven out of every 10 people already have a mobile phone.
