‘Aerospace hub’ comes to Sacheon

Korea Aerospace Industries Ltd. said it plans to restructure by centralizing its main office and plants, which are currently spread across the country, in Sacheon, South Gyeongsang province. Korea’s only military aircraft manufacturer, established in 1999, said its main office in Seosomun, central Seoul, and 200 employees at the company’s plant in Changwon, South Gyeongsang province, would be relocated to its plant in Sacheon by March. Currently, 3,000 employees are working at Korea Aerospace Industries; they include those at its aerospace development research center in Daejeon and at five plants in four regions. “We plan on turning Sacheon and South Gyeongsang province into the center of the aerospace industry,” said an official at Korea Aerospace Industries. The company expects to realize annual savings of 5 billion won ($4.7 million) with the move. by Park Hye-min, Lee Ho-jeong
