Samsung Electronics Co. presented the world’s largest organic light-emitting diode, or OLED, display panel yesterday. The 21-inch high-definition panel, made from a single sheet, has a high resolution of 6.22 megapixels and will be used for television sets. OLED panels consume less power compared to liquid crystal displays because they do not require any back lighting and have a signal response time that is more than 1,000 times faster than liquid crystal display monitors. Samsung Electronics said it reduced the production cost of the screen by using its liquid crystal display production lines. The company did not say when it plans to start selling the panels.
