Samsung to create high-speed DRAM chip
Samsung Electronics announced yesterday that it developed a 512-megabyte mobile DRAM chip that can transmit 32 bits of data simultaneously. The memory chip is fast enough to support high-quality 3D graphics and video streaming for next-generation phones and personal digital assistants, portable scanners and other handheld products. Two chips can also be stacked together to provide a one-gigabit memory capacity. Samsung will begin production later this year.
