20 billion won planned to upgrade KT system
After an extensive suspension of long-distance call service in several cities on Monday, KT Corp. said yesterday that it will invest 20 billion won ($19.9 million) to prevent further network problems. The fixed-line operator’s plans included increasing the number of long-distance switchboards and implementing a system that can predict and alert daily, weekly, monthly and annual peaks of telephone traffic. The company also added that it will make special lines such as the emergency hotline 119 separate from the entire network.
