More than 1 million use SK’s Mobile Cyworld

SK Telecom Co., Korea’s largest cell phone service provider, announced yesterday that the number of users of its Mobile Cyworld service, which allows users to access their personal Web logs on cell phones, exceeded the 1 million mark on Tuesday. Mobile Cyworld, which began March 29, 2004, uses wireless Internet connections on cell phones to provide instant text message notification whenever new messages are posted on the user’s Cyworld home page. It also allows the user to write messages on another person’s home page. SK Telecom plans to introduce a new feature this year that will allow the user to post on Cyworld pages video clips from cell phone cameras. To celebrate the milestone, SK Telecom presented the 1 millionth user with gifts and is offering free notification services for new users until Sept. 10.
