Sony’s new laptop hits Korea
Sony Korea unveiled yesterday its VAIO TX-series, a new line of laptop computers with the world’s thinnest display panel. Available in two models, the computers weigh 1.2 kilograms (2.7 pounds) and have a 4.5 millimeter-thin crystal display panel. The casing is made of multi-layered carbon fiber laminate, a material used in racing cars and airplanes, making it twice as strong and 30 percent lighter than previous models, according to Sony. The computers have an 11.1-inch-wide screen and a standard battery life of up to 9 hours. The VAIO TX-series has separate controls for its audio-video system, which means users can play compact disks and DVDs or view photos without opening the Windows system. Sony says the new laptops will be on sale in Korea by November, but has yet to set a price. They will be available in sapphire black and platinum white. by Seo Ji-eun
