Mobile TV test is planned for U.K.

Korea will launch a trial land-based mobile television service in London in April in a joint project with Britain, Korea’s Information Ministry said yesterday. Minister of Information and Communication Chin Dae-je and Prince Andrew, Britain’s special representative for international trade and investment, announced the plan on digital multimedia broadcasting, or DMB, after a meeting. The move is part of growing efforts by Korea to make inroads into European and Asian markets with its terrestrial DMB technology. Korea plans to conduct trial DMB broadcasting in France from December to April 2006 while launching a similar service in January in the southeastern German city of Regensburg.
