Wireless alliance for global roaming formed
Six major mobile service providers in the Asia-Pacific region formed an alliance for global roaming service, mobile service provider KTF said yesterday in a statement. The alliance includes Korea’s KTF, NTT DoCoMo of Japan, Far EasTone Telecommunications of Taiwan, Hutchison Essar of India, StarHub of Singapore and PT Indosat of Indonesia. The companies have a combined subscriber pool of approximately 100 million people in eight countries. The wireless carrier said that the partnership was formed to vitalize sound, visual and data roaming services based on 2.5-generation and third-generation W-CDMA services. “The alliance allows users to experience high mobile service quality anytime, anywhere in the Asia Pacific region,” said KTF President Cho Young-chu.
