LCD TVs to account for half 2010 market
Liquid crystal display (LCD) TVs are expected to account for more than half of the global production of televisions in 2010, a U.S.-based market research firm said yesterday. According to DisplaySearch, LCD TV production will likely top 100 million units in 2010, equivalent to the number of LCD panels the global market’s No. 2 producer, LG Philips LCD Co., has manufactured for the past 10 years. DisplaySearch forecast that out of the world’s entire output, LCD TVs will make up 41.8 million units, or a 21.9 percent market share this year, and increase to a 51.8 percent share in 2010.
