At this year’s Sure Beauty Awards at Bailey House in southern Seoul yesterday, the grand prize went to Sulwhasoo by Amorepacific Corp. Sulwhasoo also was tops in the category of singular brand sales by local department stores.
Hosted by the Korean monthly magazine “Sure,” the annual event announces beauty trends and the most successful cosmetic products preferred by Korean consumers.
The awards ceremony, in its sixth year, also welcomed the new chief executive of JoongAng M&B, Kil Jeong-woo, formerly publisher of the IHT-JoongAng Daily, and Elisa Jang, chief editor of the newly-launched Taiwanese edition of Sure magazine.
Styled after the Cosmetic Executive Women Beauty Awards in New York City, the Sure Beauty Awards have adhered to strict standards in selecting winners.
For this year’s awards, the magazine conducted large surveys with more than 20,000 consumers and based sales figures on department stores, free-standing boutiques and online shopping malls.
In the category of department store sales, the most popular eye cream in Korea was Estee Lauder.
The brand most preferred by women in their 20s was the Ohui brand by LG Household & Health Care Ltd. The best brand, as voted by Sure magazine readers, went to MAC, which also topped sales growth in department stores.
