Daewoo wins rights to gas
The trading company Daewoo International Corp. said yesterday that it has signed a deal with the Myanmar government to explore a gas block off the coast of the Southeast Asian country. The firm has yet to decide the amount of money to invest in the development of the block, or when it will explore the area.“It will be known whether the block has natural gas after a geological survey and initial drilling,” a Daewoo official said.
Daewoo tapped the Myanmar market in the late 1980s and started resource development projects in the country beginning in 2000.
