Wine Maker’s Dinner at JW Marriott Seoul.

Today: JW Marriott’s Italian restaurant Olivo hosts an exclusive “Winemaker’s Dinner” with the Antinori Winery. After a brief reception at 6:30 p.m., chef Franco Sommeriva will present a six-course dinner featuring crisp celery with gorgonzola and toasted pine nut mousse, San Marzano tomato cream soup with olive croutons, Tuscany-style grilled Australian beef sirloin steak, and forest mushrooms with spinach and mozzarella. Dinner will be complemented with the ever-popular Antinori premium wines. The company’s CEO, Fillippo Pulisci, will be present at the dinner with tips for recognizing the subtle differences between a Vermentino 2005 and a Villa Antinori Rosso 2003, or when to choose a Badia a Passignano Chianti over a Grappa Tignanello. The dinner ticket is priced at 85,000 won and space is limited to 30 seats. Dinner is served at 7 p.m.

Shilla Hotel Seoul
Monday: The Shilla Hotel Seoul presents Ridge Vineyards Monte Bello Gala Dinner on March 19 at 7 p.m. The event celebrates Ridge’s recognition as the finest wine at the legendary “Judgement of Paris” tasting. Ridge wine received top honors in 1976, and again in 2006 at the tasting’s 30th anniversary. One white wine and four red wines, including Ridge Monte Bello Chardonnay 2000, will be presented with a special nine course dinner. The winemaker and CEO of Ridge Winery, Mr. Paul Draper, will be present at the dinner to commemorate the evening. The price is 400,000 won including service charge and VAT.

To March 31: The Grand InterContinental’s contemporary restaurant Table 34 is featuring hanwoo, or Korean beef, in a special promotion. Table 34’s chef Lucas Spoel creates world class beef dishes with prime hanwoo cuts, known for its high amino and oleic acid content, two factors that determine beef quality. Herb potatoes, sauteed mushrooms, asparagus and green salads will be nutritious additions to the hearty steak menus. A choice of Bearnaise sauce or green peppercorn sauce will add extra flavor to the dish. The price is set at 55,000 won excluding service charge and VAT.

To May 31: The Lounge, located on the top floor of the Park Hyatt Seoul, is offering a Korean spring garden, featuring spring vegetables, seafood and a panoramic city view. Set menus and a la carte selections cooked with savory spring greens are available from 8,000 won. Set menu A includes seasoned sedum, marinated beef salad, grilled yellow croaker, bean paste soup, seasoned wild rocambole, fatsia pancakes, black sesame creme brulee, and is priced at 35,000 won. Set menu B, priced at 40,000 won, includes seasoned fatsia, king prawn salad, nerbiani, bean paste soup, seasoned shepherd’s purse, flower pancake, jujube tart and jujube tea.
All prices are subject to a 10 percent VAT.
