Korea’s Park Tae-hwan brought home another medal from the swimming world championships in Australia, when he finished third in the 200-meter free style to cement his standing as one of the world’s best swimmers.
Park finished behind American star Michael Phelps, who set a world record of 1: 43.86; three-time Olympic champion Pieter Van Den Hoogenband of the Netherlands finished second. Park picked up his pace as he made his turn into the final lap coming from fifth place with 50 meters left to touch the wall at 1:46.73. Park won the 400-meter free style event on Sunday and is to compete in the 1,500 meters over the weekend.
