가신
부족 연맹체였던 초기 고구려에서는 부족장의 후예인 대가(大加)들이 가신을 거느리고 있었다. 왕권이 강화되면서 이들을 흡수한다. 고려 시대 최씨 정권에서 왕조는 껍데기만 남았다. 최씨 집에 설치된 교정도감과 정방, 사병조직인 도방과 마별초가 국정을 농단했다. 여기서 일하는 사람을 가신이라 했다. 이렇게 공과 사의 대척에 서 있는 게 가신이다.

5년 전 오늘 김대중 당시 대통령은 3남 홍걸씨에 이어 차남 홍업씨까지 구속돼 대국민 사과를 했다. 레임덕(임기 말 권력 누수)에 시달려 힘겨운 시간을 보낼 때다. 그에 비해 당장은 노 대통령이 임기 말 관리를 잘하고 있는 걸로 보인다. 하지만 무엇이 최선인지는 권력을 놓은 뒤까지 지켜볼 일이다.
