Samsung accused of infringing patents

Sharp Corp., which slipped to third place in the global market for liquid crystal display televisions, has sued Samsung Electronics Co., claiming it infringed five patents covering LCD display technology.
Sharp accused Samsung, the world’s second-biggest maker of LCD TVs after Sony Corp., of using its technology without permission. It said Samsung should be ordered to stop, according to a complaint filed yesterday in federal court in Marshall, Texas. The lawsuit targets liquid crystal display modules made by Samsung for LCD TVs, computer monitors and mobile phones.
Samsung is considering filing a countersuit against Sharp for the use of its own LCD-related patents, Lee Soo-jeong, a spokeswoman at the company, said by telephone. Bloomberg
