Four times more profit in Q2 for Hyundai Mipo
Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co., a unit of Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., the world’s largest shipbuilder, said yesterday that its second-quarter earnings more than quadrupled from a year earlier on increased demand for high-priced ships. Its net profit reached 289 billion won ($312 million) in the April to June period, compared with 65.4 billion won a year earlier, the company said. Sales also jumped 21 percent to 689 billion won over the cited period, and operating income soared 67 percent to 84.1 billion won, it said.
