NCsoft swings into the black in second quarter
NCsoft Corp., Korea’s leading online game developer, said yesterday that it turned a profit in the second quarter of this year on cost reductions.Net income amounted to 10.5 billion won ($11.3 million) during the April to June period, a turnaround from a loss of 222 million won a year earlier, the company said in a regulatory filing. Revenue, however, declined 11.3 percent year-on-year to 75.9 billion won, while operating profit more than doubled to 10.6 billion won from the previous year’s 1.6 billion won. The second-quarter bottom line beat a market consensus of 9.5 billion won. Analysts expected sales and operating profit at 53.5 billion and 10 billion won, respectively. Yonhap
