At 84, sax man is Jongno fixture

When dusk falls, a gentleman in a black top hat, patent leather high- heeled boots and a well-thumbed tenor saxophone marches on the streets of Jongno, central Seoul. With glittering brooches on his black coat and an artificial sunflower on his chest, the gentleman roams the streets from evening until the heart of night. Rain or shine, summer or winter, the gentleman with the saxophone is always there.

땅거미가 질 무렵, 검은색 모자와 독특한 높은 굽의 부츠 차림의 한 신사가 테너 색스폰을 들고서울 한 가운데 종로 거리를 활보한다. 검은색 외투에는 빛나는 브로우치를 달고 해바라기 조화를 가슴에 단 차림의 이 신사는 저녁부터 한밤중까지 거리를 누빈다. 날이 좋건 궂건, 여름이건 겨울이건 색스폰을 든 신사는 언제나 그곳에 있다.

prance : (말이) 껑충거리다; (사람이) 뛰어다니는 말에 타다; 의기양양하게 걷다. 뛰어다니다.
지난 목요일도 예외는 아니었다. 백연화(84)씨는 종로 광장시장으로 의기양양하게 향했다.
“Hello to you all! I am Baek Yeon-hwa, the street musician,” he cried in a resonant voice that sounded much younger than his age.
resonant : (소리, 목소리가) 반향하는, 잘 울리는, 낭랑한
“안녕하세요 여러분! 저는 거리의 악사, 백연화입니다”, 나이보다 훨씬 젊어보이는 낭랑한 목소리로 그가 외쳤다.
Then the self-proclaimed street musician is happy to play old Korean pop songs for nothing more than the cost of a smile.
그리고는 자칭 거리의 음악사인 그는 청중들의 미소만 있으면 한국의 옛 유행가를 즐겁게 연주한다.
His performance may not land him at Carnegie Hall in New York, but it is pleasant enough to entertain a rowdy gang of people eating at snack bars.
그의 연주실력은 뉴욕 카네기 홀에 설 정도는 아니지만, 길거리 포장마차에 진을 친 사람들을 즐겁게 하기에는 충분하다.
Once Baek starts to play his sax, the music mixes with the boisterous hustle and bustle of the market. In short order Baek wins the attention of customers.
boisterous : 떠들썩한, 시끄러운, 활기찬
hustle and bustle : 야단법석, 흥청거림.
백씨가 연주를 막 시작할 때는 음악소리가 시장통의 흥청거리는 소음에 뒤섞인다. 그러나 잠시 후면 백씨는 오가는 사람들의 눈길을 끄는 데 성공한다.
