Hostages return to Korea, reunite with families
풀려난 인질들 한국으로 돌아와서 가족들과 재회하다

Sobbing and with their heads bowed, 19 former hostages returned to Korean soil yesterday morning to reunite with friends and family they hadn't seen for 51 days.

탈레반에 납치됐다 풀려난 한국인 19명이 어제 아침 고개를 숙인 채 흐느껴 울면서 한국 땅을 다시 밟았고 51일 동안 만나지 못했던 가족과 친구들을 만났다.

"Promise not to go anywhere from now on," the 8-year-old daughter of hostage Kim Yun-young told her mother. Kim told her husband, Ryu Haeng-sik, 36, "I was able to handle everything in Afghanistan by thinking about our children."

인질이었던 김윤영씨의 딸(8)은 엄마에게 말했다. “앞으로는 아무데도 가지 않는다고 약속해.” 김씨는 남편 류행식(36)씨에게 “아이들을 생각하면서 아프가니스탄에서 견딜 수 있었어요”라고 말했다.

The hostages, who had planned to stay in Afghanistan to do volunteer work for less than a week, were kidnapped July 19. After their release last week, they arrived at Incheon International Airport at 6:50 a.m. yesterday.

그 인질들은 일주일 가량 자원봉사 활동을 하려고 아프가니스탄에 머물 계획이었으나 7월19일 납치됐었다. 그들은 지난주 풀려난 뒤 어제 오전 6시50분 인천공항에서 도착했다.

Two hostages who did not come back alive were represented there, too. Bae Sin-kyu held a picture of his older brother, Pastor Bae Hyung-kyu, who was killed by the Taliban on July 25 during a time of deadlocked negotiations for their release. Shim Sung-min, killed on July 31, was remembered in a photo held by Kim Gi-woong, the brother of hostage Kim Gi-na, one of two women who had been earlier released.

그들은 살아서 돌아오지 못한 인질 두 명의 영정을 들고 있었다. 배신규씨는 인질석방 협상이 교착상태에 빠져있던 7월25일에 탈레반에 의해 살해된 형 배형규 목사의 사진을 들고 있었다. 7월31일에 살해된 심성민씨의 영정은 김지웅씨가 들었다. 김지웅씨는 앞서서 풀려났던 여성 두 명 가운데 한 명인 김지나씨의 오빠이다.

"We apologize for worrying people and imposing a significant burden on the government," said Lyu Kyung-sik, 55, one of the hostages. "We express our condolences to Pastor Bae and Shim Sung-min, who could not be here with us."

“국민들에게 심려를 끼치고 정부에 큰 부담을 줘 죄송합니다.”고 인질 대표 유경식(55)씨가 말했다. “함께 돌아오지 못한 배형규 목사님과 심성민씨에게 애도의 뜻을 표합니다”

The rest of the former hostage members wept with their heads down. Some at the airport applauded and yelled, "You brothers and sisters did nothing wrong. Do not bow your heads." A man attempted to throw an egg at the former hostages but was stopped by police.
나머지 일행들은 고개를 떨군 채 흐느꼈다. 공항에서 일부 사람들은 박수를 쳐주고, “형제자매들은 잘못한 것이 하나도 없다. 고개를 숙이지 마라.”고 외쳤다. 한 남성이 석방된 피랍자들에게 계란을 던지려다 경찰의 제지를 받았다.

The group then went to Sam Hospital in Anyang, Gyeonggi, to reunite with their families.
The group will receive treatment at the hospital for two weeks. "They are in good condition, except for some skin diseases," said Cha Seung-gyun, chairman of the hospital. "But because they have experienced a serious mental shock, they will be treated by five psychiatrists."

기자회견 후 일행은 경기도 안양 샘병원으로 가서 가족들을 만났다. 석방자들은 그 병원에서 2주일간 치료를 받는다. 샘병원 차승균 원장은 “일부의 피부병 증세를 빼고는 건강상태가 양호하다. 그러나 정신적 충격이 큰 만큼 5명의 정신과 전문의가 치료할 것이다.”고 말했다.
