Kimchi war between China-Korea is resolved

Korea and China have resumed normal kimchi trade, state media said on Thursday, two years after Seoul kicked up a stink about the quality of the Chinese version.
Kimchi is a fiery, pungent dish of raw, pickled vegetables, such as cabbage and radish.
Korea launched an investigation into Chinese-made kimchi after the discovery of parasite eggs in a batch in October 2005. In response, China banned several imports of Korean food and started an investigation into Korean cosmetics.
Korea agreed to cut down random sampling of Chinese kimchi from 100 percent to 20 percent last August and this week cut to 10 percent, Xinhua news agency said.
“Although the kimchi trade dispute between China and Korea has been satisfactorily resolved, we will continue to ensure smooth development of China-made kimchi exports to Korea,” Xinhua said, quoting China’s General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.
In 2007, Chinese kimchi exports to Korea reached 202,000 tons, worth about $100 million. Reuters
