한 걸음

관작루는 동남쪽으로 높지 않은 산이 있고 거센 황허(黃河)의 물길이 급히 꺾여 돌아나가는 지점에 있다. 빼어난 경치 때문에 역대의 시인 묵객들이 즐겨 찾았던 곳이다. 그 중에서도 당(唐)대의 시인 왕지환(王之渙)이 지은 ‘관작루에 오르며(登鸛雀樓)’라는 시는 시간의 흐름에 구애됨이 없이 지금까지도 사람들이 애송하는 절창이다. 그는 누각에 올라 이렇게 읊는다.

해가 지는 모습은 먼 경치다. 먼 곳에 우선 머물렀던 시선은 정자의 바로 앞인 황허의 물길로 옮겨간다. 가까운 경치다. 먼 곳에서 가까운 곳으로 시선이 이동하면서 크나큰 대지의 크기를 느끼게 한다. 해가 내려앉는 궤적은 종적(縱的)이다. 이에 비해 황허의 흐르는 물길은 평면적이면서 횡적(橫的)인 이동이다. 종과 횡의 구도가 자연스레 다가온다.

ⓑⓓ ‘vision’은 시력이나 미래상 등을 나타내는 어휘이므로, 문맥에 맞게 시선을 나타내는 어휘인 view 또는 eyes로 수정. ⓓ의 경우에는 주어가 복수형이 되었으므로 동사도 그에 맞춰 move로 수정
