봄, 시의 향연

도시인에게 봄은 무엇으로 오는가. 가로수의 새순, 이웃집의 목련과 벚꽃, 작은 화단에 내리는 햇살, 여성들의 가벼워진 옷차림에서 온다. 저녁녘 TV 에서 전하는 꽃소식은 영상으로 온다. 시인에게 봄은 무엇으로 다가오는가. 작고한 평론가 김현이『살아있는 시들』이란 시선집에서 답을 썼다. “유년 시절과 봄과 바다는 아직도 한국 시인들의 상상력의 원공간이다.”

내가 한 영작
What is spring to city ⓐpeople? We find ⓑit in greening trees along the streets, blossoming flower beds next to a building, and women's bright ⓒclothes. We also find it in ⓓfootages of flowers in bloom on the evening TV. However, the spring that poets and artists everywhere have sung about since time immemorial is not the return of blossoms and colors around us but the spring we feel in our hearts.

ⓐ people  dwellers 어느 지역에 살고 있는 사람, 즉 거주자를 나타내는 단어 dweller로 수정
ⓑ it  spring 가리키는 대상을 명확히 해주기 위해 spring으로 수정
ⓒ clothes  clothing ‘의•식•주’에서와 같이 집합적이고 추상적인 의미의 의류를 이야기 할 때에는 clothing 사용. 참고로 clothes는 바지, 티셔츠 등과 같이 실제적으로 사람들이 입는 옷을 뜻함
ⓓ footages  footage 어떠한 행사나 사건 등을 담은 ‘영상’을 뜻하는 footage는 셀 수 없는 명사이므로 s삭제

However, the spring that poets and artists everywhere have sung about since time immemorial is not the return of blossoms and colors around us but the spring we feel in our hearts.

그때 중국 송나라 시인 소동파(蘇東坡)의 ‘춘소(春宵:봄밤)’ 한 구절을 읽는다. “춘소일각치천금 (春宵一刻値千金)‘-봄밤의 일각은 천금의 가치가 있다.” 일각은 대략 15분이니 우리는 이 봄에 밤마다 부자가 될 수 있다. 시와 함께 달빛 속에서 꽃향기에 취해. 한 어부가 무릉도원이란 이상향을 찾은 시기도 복사꽃이 강물에 떠내려오는 계절이니 바로 요즘이 아닌가.

내가 한 영작
Up late at night writing, we read "Spring Night" by ⓐChinese poet Su Shi of the Song Dynasty: Fifteen minutes reading ⓑthe poem is worth millions. This spring, every night, we can become rich. It is the season when a fisherman finds his utopia with a poem, ⓒdrunk at the smell of flowers under the moonlight. It is also the season when peach flowers ⓓflow down rivers.

ⓐ Chinese poet  the Chinese poet 인명 앞에 동격 명사나 형용사가 올 경우에는 the 추가. 참고로 동격 형용사가 good, bad 등과 같이 감정을 나타내거나 동격 명사가 칭호나 작위 등을 나타낼 때에는 관사를 사용하지 않음
ⓑ the poem  a poem 정해진 시가 아니라, 단순히 한 편의 시를 이야기하고 있으므로 a로 수정

ⓓ flow  float 꽃잎이 물 위에 동동 떠서 흘러내려가는 느낌을 살리기 위해 float로 수정
