Europe-Korea Foundation holds special holiday event for orphans
On Dec. 12, the Europe-Korea Foundation, the charity arm of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in Korea, held a Christmas party for 150 children and their carers at the SOS Children’s Village in Hwagok-dong, western Seoul.
The special Christmas party included a donation of children books collected from EKF members, a magic show, Christmas dinner and a cartoon screening.
For many of the children, it was their first Christmas party ever.
“Sharing love with the orphans is always a wonderful thing to do, especially now when the global crisis will mostly affect those children,” said Raffaele Quarto from the EU Delegation for Korea.
Meanwhile, the Steering Committee of the Diplomatic Happy Hour, in cooperation with the Canadian Embassy in Seoul, organized the 1st Annual DHH Rocking Charity Holiday Happy Hour on Dec. 11.
The Diplomatic Happy Hour is a regular networking reunion of the diplomatic community in Korea that started in 2002 to help improve communication among the international missions in Korea.
All proceeds from the charity party, including donated goods such as used clothes that guests brought along with them, were delivered to Anna’s House, a center serving the homeless and the jobless in Seongnam,
Gyeonggi.
