Wang gets community service for incident

The Korean Judo Association ordered Wang Ki-chun to serve two months of community service. The 21-year-old Yong In University athlete disappeared for 11 days late last month after an incident at a Yongin, Gyeonggi club in which he slapped a female patron. Wang was questioned by the police, but the female patron did not press charges. Wang then disappeared for 11 days and put a statement on his Web site that he would retire from the sport. He missed the National Athletics Competition in the process but eventually decided to come back to judo.

National judo team members are allowed one day of leave per week from the National Training Center in Taeneung, northern Seoul. Instead of the day off, Wang must visit various cities around the country to conduct judo classes for young athletes as part of his community service.
