Girls’ Generation

테스트

Oh! My! God! did Girls’ Generation misfire! Their much-anticipated second full album is way disappointing. The group’s bread-and-butter sing-along choruses are missing, and if a girl group that is built on image and addictive, repetitive hooks can’t deliver in that department, there isn’t much left to say.

Throughout a 12-song ordeal, there isn’t a single moment in which your head starts to spontaneously nod. Shallow lyrics that mix in the overused “oh baby” phrase fail to catch the ear, too.

The title song, “Oh!,” is supposed to deliver that knock-out punch with its “Oh ... Oh ... Oh” chorus that leads into the Korean word oppa (which means “elder brother” - but it’s also used by girls to refer to their boyfriends), but the magic just isn’t there.

Attempts at R&B, electronic pop and bossa nova are made, but this bubble gum has popped.

Nevertheless, legions of fans will still be happy just watching the video clips, because the group still has their looks. By Brian Lee
