[Sponsored Report] IFEZ preparing for global spotlight

Officials in Incheon are gearing up to put the city’s best foot forward as finance and bank leaders from the world’s advanced economies gather to prepare for the Group of 20 Summit in November.

Roughly 150 leaders from across the globe are expected to attend the preparatory event, which will be held at the newly developed Songdo international business campus.

Incheon officials formed a task force on Feb. 5 to focus on how the city can make a lasting impression on visitors in town for the event, focusing particularly on promoting the Incheon Free Economic Zone, or IFEZ. They have also been exploring ways to raise the interest level in G-20 events among the public.

“Since this meeting is the starting point of the G-20 Summit, we see this chance as a good opportunity to highlight the city and promote the IFEZ to the world,” said Lee Heon-seok, the commissioner of the zone. “We hope this meeting will raise the brand value of Incheon and attract foreign investment.”

The city is currently promoting six policies related to the G-20 talks, while the IFEZ is cracking down on illegal advertisements and street stalls. Officials are also focused on maintenance activities involving street lights, signs and pedestrian walkways.
