Hana Financial Group calls social contribution work “investment that creates value, not cost.” It is currently promoting projects that resolve societal needs while improving employee morale and creating a positive corporate image.

In 2010, the group is focusing on environmental issues, helping develop environmental policies that prepare for climate change. It is also helping train children to understand economic concepts and industrial characteristics by hosting the “Children’s Economic Education Musical” and “Finance for Teenagers” classes. The musical combines dance, music, and economics, while the classes aimed at middle- and high-school students offer lectures on economics and financial institutions.

The group has founded the Hana Hope Foundation, which helps economically disadvantaged people open new business. The foundation provides small business loans without asking for collateral or guarantees, thus contributing to job creation. In the footsteps of the Hana Hope Foundation, the Smile Microcredit Bank was founded in last December to support people who have less access to financial institutes.

Hana Financial believes that culture makes a valuable contribution to society, so every third week it hosts the Hana Yeouido Classic at the Hana Daetoo Securities Hanmaeum Hall, which features classical music performances and plays. The group also holds the Hana Classic Academy every Thursday at Yeouido, giving people a chance to enjoy the classics in greater depth.

The group’s commitment to culture and children is long-term. In 1993, it started a national poster-drawing contest to help children appreciate art and nature, and the contest has since grown to attract more than 25,000 participants each year. And Hana Kids of Asia teaches children of multicultural families Korean traditions and language. The group has distributed 45,000 books written in both Vietnamese and Korean.
